Sumo Push
Sumo Push needs JavaScript. Turn it on to run a bracket.
Sumo Push is a browser sumo bracket randomizer for sports card breakers. Paste the buyers' names and pick a length, and pixel art sumo wrestlers push each other out of the ring through a knockout bracket until one champion is left. That name is the winner.
How it works
- Paste names, pick a length, press START SUMO PUSH.
- The seed draws every name into a knockout bracket. Each matchup is one bout: a short shoving match, then one wrestler is pushed out of the ring and is out. The winner moves on until one champion is left.
- Every bout is a coin flip from the seed: each name has the same chance in every bout. There is no skill and no favourite, and a wrestler's size or belt colour means nothing. The seed decides the draw, every bout and the finishing order. The same names, length and seed replay the exact same bracket, and the length never changes who wins. When the number of names is not a power of two, some names get a first round bye; who gets a bye is part of the seeded draw, so before the draw every name has the same chance to win.
- Belt colours and wrestler sizes are just looks. A winner usually keeps its look into the next bout so you can follow it; it means nothing for who wins.
- Length: early rounds are revealed a page at a time in the bracket, with one featured bout on the ring. Later rounds and the final are fully animated, with longer bouts and replays when there is time. The length never changes who wins.
- Finishing order: 1st is the champion, 2nd lost the final. A name that loses in a later round ranks above one that lost earlier. In the same round, whoever lost to the higher finisher ranks higher. The LOST TO column shows it.
- When you press START SUMO PUSH, our server makes a draw code and records the names, settings and time before the bracket runs. The code decides the result. No connection, no bracket.
- Watch the whole bracket live. The code and its drawn time are on screen; the drawn time should match when the bracket started.
- Press VERIFY / REWATCH and enter a code, or open its link, to see when it was drawn and watch the exact same bracket again. Replays say REPLAY across the screen and are never a new draw.
- Replays: the same names, length and code replay the exact same bracket. STREAM MODE hides the controls for OBS. Keys: Ctrl or Cmd + Enter start, Space pause, 1 2 4 speed, F fullscreen, M sound, Esc back.
Names, lengths and seeds
- Names: 2 to 256, one per line.
- Length: 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes (3 is the default), or a custom time up to 60:00. A length too short for the field is raised to the minimum, and a length longer than the field can fill is capped; the setup screen says why.
- Every START gets a verified draw code. REPLAY on the results screen plays the same bracket again, and VERIFY / REWATCH opens any draw by its code.
- STREAM MODE, or ?stream=1 in the address for an OBS browser source, hides the playback controls and the cursor.
- Results: COPY RESULTS gives paste-ready text and DOWNLOAD CSV saves the standings. Sign in with Google to save your brackets and replay them from MY MATCHES.
