Draft Lottery
Draft Lottery needs JavaScript. Turn it on to run a draw.
Draft Lottery is a browser draft lottery for sports card breakers. Paste the buyers' names and pick a length, and numbered balls leave the drum one at a time, counting down from the last pick to pick 1. The result is the full pick order.
How it works
- Paste names, one per line, pick a length, press START DRAW.
- One line, one ball: every line is one numbered ball. A name typed twice is two balls and two spots, shown as MIKE and MIKE (2).
- The countdown: the drum reveals the draft order counting down. The last pick comes out first.
- Final two: when two balls are left, the next ball out is pick 2 and the ball left in the drum is pick 1, crowned last.
- Length: the first reveals (the late picks) are quick, and on long lists they land on the DRAFT ORDER a page at a time. The top picks get the full draw. The length never changes the order.
- Entry list: ENTRY LIST shows everyone still in the drum, in the order you typed them, with their ball numbers. It never shows who is next.
- Big lists: when more than 20 entries are left, the drum shows 20 numbered balls in front of a pile of plain ones. A drawn ball can come up from that back pile.
Fair for every name
Every entry has the same chance at every pick. Each line you type is one ball, so a name typed twice is two separate spots with two numbers. Before the first ball moves, the seed shuffles every entry into one draft order, and the drum only reveals it, counting down from the last pick. When two balls are left, the next one out is pick 2 and the one left in the drum is pick 1. The same names, length and seed replay the exact same draw. The length never changes the order. Rattles at the chute are part of the show: a ball that rattles always drops.
Names, lengths and seeds
- Names: 2 to 500, one per line. A name typed twice is kept as two separate spots.
- Length: 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes (3 is the default), or a custom time up to 60:00. A length too short for the list is raised to the minimum, and a length longer than the list can fill is capped; the setup screen says why.
- Verified draws and replays: every START gets a draw code from our server, shown with its draw time during the draw and on the results. Open the code's link, or enter it with VERIFY / REWATCH, to see when it was drawn and watch the same draw again. REPLAY on the results screen plays the same draw again.
- STREAM MODE, or ?stream=1 in the address for an OBS browser source, hides the playback controls and the cursor.
- Keyboard: Ctrl or Cmd+Enter starts, Space pauses, 1, 2 and 4 set the speed, F is fullscreen, M turns sound on or off, Esc goes back to setup.
