Claw Machine

Claw Machine needs JavaScript. Turn it on to run a draw.

Claw Machine is a browser claw machine pick order randomizer for sports card breakers. Paste the buyers' names, choose ALL or a number of picks and a length, and a pixel art claw grabs the name balls one at a time. Each ball it drops in the chute is the next pick.

How it works

Paste names, choose how many PICKS (ALL or a number), pick a length, press START CLAW.
The claw grabs one ball at a time and drops it in the chute. Each ball is the next pick in the PICK ORDER list. With fewer picks than names, everyone left in the machine is listed as NOT PICKED.
The first picks get the full grab with a big reveal, later picks speed up, and on long lists the last picks drop straight onto the list a page at a time. The length never changes the order.
When 16 or fewer names are left, every name is on a ball. Before that the balls are blank, and the name shows on the ball when the claw lifts it.
NEXT UP lists everyone still in the machine, in the order you typed them. It does not show the pick order.

Fair for every name

Every name has the same chance at every pick. There is no skill and no favourite. Before the first grab, the seed shuffles all the names into one pick order, and the claw only reveals it. The same names, picks, length and seed replay the exact same draw. The length and the number of picks never change the order: the first 3 picks of a 3 pick draw are the same names as the first 3 of an ALL draw with the same seed. Near misses are part of the show: a ball that slips out was never that pick.

Names, lengths and seeds

Names: 2 to 500, one per line.
Picks: ALL, 1, 3, 5, 10 or a custom number. A preset larger than the name count picks everyone.
Length: 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes (3 is the default), or a custom time up to 60:00. A length too short for the draw is raised to the minimum, and a length longer than the draw can fill is capped; the setup screen says why.
Verified draws and replays: every START gets a draw code from our server, shown with its draw time during the draw and on the results. Open the code's link, or enter it with VERIFY / REWATCH, to see when it was drawn and watch the same draw again. REPLAY on the results screen plays the same draw again.
STREAM MODE, or ?stream=1 in the address for an OBS browser source, hides the playback controls and the cursor.
Keyboard: Ctrl or Cmd+Enter starts, Space pauses, 1, 2 and 4 set the speed, F is fullscreen, M turns sound on or off, Esc goes back to setup.
